Crimson Desert, the highly anticipated prequel to the popular Black Desert Online, has launched with a significant technical hurdle – it currently lacks any support for Intel Arc graphics cards. According to reporting from Wccftech, players utilizing Intel hardware are unlikely to see compatibility added to the game in the immediate future, if it ever arrives at all.
The developer, Pearl Abyss, has addressed the situation directly in the FAQ section of the game’s official website. The statement explicitly clarifies that Intel Arc GPUs are unsupported and advises any affected players who purchased the title expecting compatibility to request a refund through the platform where they made the purchase, following standard return policies.
Intel maintains that the lack of compatibility is not due to a lack of effort or attention on their part. A company spokesperson clarified in a statement to Wccftech that the chipmaker has proactively contacted Pearl Abyss multiple times over the past several years, offering engineering resources and technical assistance to ensure the game would run on their hardware.
“We are aware that Crimson Desert currently does not run on systems with Intel graphics and are deeply disappointed that players using Intel hardware cannot dive into the world of Pywel at launch. Over the past few years, we have reached out to Pearl Abyss many times to help with testing, validation, and optimization, providing early hardware samples, drivers, and engineering resources for several generations, including Alchemist, Battlemage, Meteor Lake, and Lunar Lake,” stated the Intel representative.

Despite the current lack of support, Intel emphasizes that they remain “ready to help Pearl Abyss in any possible way.” The company appears willing to cooperate if the developer decides to expand its hardware horizons and accommodate the growing segment of Intel GPU users in the future.
The tech giant is now advising frustrated gamers to reach out to the developer directly for further clarification. Intel suggests that players deserve a clear explanation regarding the decision to leave Arc support out of the game’s initial release, especially considering the technical support that was made available.
Technically, Pearl Abyss is under no obligation to optimize its title for Intel Arc and has the right to prioritize specific hardware platforms. However, the decision to bypass one of the three major PC graphics providers has sparked a wave of criticism, with owners reporting that the game fails to even launch on their systems, let alone run with optimization issues.
As of this writing, Pearl Abyss has not officially explained the technical reasons behind the omission of Intel support. Furthermore, the studio has not announced whether it plans to address these compatibility problems or if Intel hardware will remain unsupported for the duration of the game’s life cycle.
This technical controversy follows reports that Pearl Abyss shares recently plummeted by 30% after early reviews criticized the project’s design, with some players describing the experience as a “single – player MMO.”
