Capcom is cleaning house ahead of Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Dark Arisen expansion. Starting June 25th, the publisher will permanently remove microtransactions from the game across all platforms and simultaneously introduce a permanent price reduction on digital copies. The exact new price hasn’t been announced yet – current standard pricing sits at €64.99 on PC and €74.99 on PS5 and Xbox Series.
The DLC being removed consisted of low-cost items priced at roughly €1-2 each. At launch they drew sharp criticism from the community, which viewed them as pay-to-win advantages. The removed content includes extra Wakestone units that revive characters, Rift Crystals, and an additional Portcrystal enabling fast travel.
Over time, many players pointed out that all these items can be obtained naturally through normal gameplay, making the DLC largely redundant. That reality makes removal a straightforward decision – it ends a controversy that lingered long after launch, and community reception to the announcement has been broadly positive.
Not everything disappears from the store. Two items remain available for purchase: the Explorer’s Camping Kit and the Dragon’s Dogma Music and Sounds pack, each priced at €2.99. Both are also bundled into the new Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen edition, which packages the base game alongside the expansion – though that bundle’s price hasn’t been revealed yet.
Dark Arisen arrives October 9th on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. The base game and all new content will also launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day.
