Scopely is merging two empires this summer. Starting June 3rd and running through July 29th, Monopoly Go welcomes a crossover with The Simpsons – featuring an epic collision between Mr. Monopoly himself and Springfield’s tyrannical magnate, Mr. Burns. Iconic locations throughout the animated town will receive Monopoly Go makeovers, transforming familiar landmarks into property-themed destinations.

The partnership runs deep. The development team at Scopely collaborated directly with The Simpsons’ creative staff to craft this crossover, and major media is taking notice – People magazine dedicated not one but two special covers to the fictional rivalry. GameSpot has exclusive access to showcase both editions, each packed with playful references about wealth, billionaire behavior, and pretending to be ordinary people despite massive fortunes.

Printed copies arrive June 5th for retail purchase; subscribers will receive theirs sooner. The magazine covers represent just the beginning of an extensive promotional push.

Monopoly Go Brings Springfield’s Richest Villain Into Billionaire Showdown

Gameplay features the entire Simpson family alongside Mr. Burns, plus numerous fan-favorite characters. Hidden details, references, and easter eggs pepper the experience. One clever addition: players jailed can bribe Chief Wiggum for early release – a mechanic that honors show canon while rewarding resourcefulness.

Victor Dias-Roig, president of Scopely’s gaming division, explained the vision: “Working closely with The Simpsons creative team, our talented game developers tackled something far more ambitious than simply placing Springfield in the game; we wanted to create an entirely new shared universe where these iconic characters, stories, and gameplay could intersect. Each season element was designed with our tycoons in mind, offering fresh ways to play while giving Simpsons fans their first chance to experience Monopoly Go.”

The collaboration blends interconnected gameplay with original Simpsons narratives unfolding across seasonal maps, animated episodes, and themed decorations. Story episodes launch bi-weekly, inspired by show classics. Homer’s nuclear mishaps and Bart and Lisa disappearing into Krustyland provide narrative frameworks. Each episode brings collectibles, mini-games, and over fifty themed Chance cards.

A short film written and produced by The Simpsons creators kicks off the partnership, positioning Mr. Monopoly – voiced by Will Ferrell – in face-to-face rivalry with Mr. Burns across a conflict decades in the making. This crossover follows earlier mobile game collaborations. The Simpsons already dominated Tapped Out, their dedicated mobile title, and claimed an entire Fortnite season just last year.
