Is Dead Island 2 Crossplay?

Let me remind you that you can play DI2 on Xbox One and PS4 (and higher), as well as on PC (on Steam and Epic Games). The team playing on Xbox is impressive, and you are a PS5 owner? Unfortunately, you will not be able to team up, since DI 2 does not support crossplay. There are 2 options: either also play on Xbox, or look for comrades playing on similar consoles.

Luckily, the developers have added cross-gen to the game. This means you can play on consoles of different generations with your friends in the same team.

1. Playing on Xbox One and your friend on Xbox series X S? You can be on the same team!
2. If you have PS4, and a friend with PS5 invites you to play, then you can team up.
3. Playing through Steam, and your friend through Epic Games? You have the opportunity to join forces against hordes of zombies.

Let’s sum it up:

1. Co-op between PS4 and PS5 owners works.
2. Co-op between Xbox One and Series owners works.
3. Co-op between owners of platforms from different manufacturers does not work.

Cross-progression is the ability of a player to transfer their progress from one platform (for example, PS5) to another (let it be Xbox One) without any loss in game progress. DI 2 does not have such a function. Imagine that you have already reached level 5 in a shooter, playing on Xbox One. And then you were given a new PS5 and you want to continue playing on it without losing progress. With Dead Island 2, you can’t do this, and this is its big drawback.

Dead Island 2 does not support crossplay? But you can play it on PS4, unlike Marvel Rivals. Let’s look at what modes are in DI 2. To set up co-op, open the menu and find “Online” in the settings. Here you can choose one of the modes:

1. Single player – your session is not available to other users;
2. Open – allows any player to join your session;
3. By invitation only – you can add only certain people to the session;
4. Friends only – any of your friends can join you.

Don’t want to start a co-op? Then join another session.

Interesting point: Dead Island 2 does not allow you to join players who have already progressed further in the story than you. The same applies to those who connect to your session. For example, you are level 6 in DI 2, and your leisurely friend is level 2. You can play on your friend’s server, but he can’t play on yours.
