ToggleBlack Ops 2: maps and the game plot
Well, old gamers, remember those times when the grass was greener and the game plot made sense? What can we say about the quality of graphics and not stupid characters? Now, downloading Call of Duty BO 2, you feel like a veteran of shooters: each map is like home. And these zombie maps, which are in Black Ops 2, are quite enough to roam and shoot to glory properly. But first things first.
What do we remember about this game? Treyarch in the distant 2012 presents to the world its brainchild – Call of Duty Black Ops 2. This is a sequel to its predecessor Black Ops. The new part was met with mixed reactions: some grumbled that the game was no different from the previous part and called it mainstream. Others noted the change in the development of events in the game: now you can contemplate futurism in all its beauty.
In the best traditions of the series, Black Ops 2 is more of a movie than a game. Epic videos and cut scenes are sometimes interrupted by gameplay inserts. Kill a couple dozen opponents – enjoy the view of the falling skyscrapers of New York. Kill another hundred – get a portion of the plot. Which, by the way, despite all its predictability, has always caused admiring reviews from fans.
This time, the narrative develops in two-time planes. The main events take place in 2025. David Mason, following in the footsteps of his father Alex, takes on the heroic burden of exterminating terrorist scum. At the head of the latter is a brutal man Raul Menendez, taking revenge on everyone and everything for the death of his sister. In parallel, David talks with Frank Woods, known to us from the first part, and learns the contents of the secret pages of his father’s history. Thus, the story campaign includes missions for both David and Alex Mason.
The linearity of the plot has never been a weak link in the game. But the developers, imbued with the spirit of reform, announced changes in this element of the new project. Did anyone seriously believe in the non-linearity of the plot? As you know if you don’t want disappointment, don’t believe it. If we understand non-linearity in the traditional sense, as the presence of situations in which the decision refracts the entire narrative in a certain way, then there are zero of them here.
Everyone will have to go through the same set of missions and shoot the same number of enemies. Almost all the decisions that the player can make consist of choosing one of two options: execute or pardon key characters. However, several of these decisions will not determine the further development of events, but only the final video.
Here we briefly recalled the plot of the game. But what about the maps? You can choose multiplayer maps in Black Ops 2 if you want to play with friends online (or not necessarily with friends). The choice of maps is huge: from hot deserts (for example, “Mirage”) to cold cities (the “Frost” map). Each map has its own interesting and special locations where you can have a great time and fight for glory.
Buried is one of the iconic zombie maps in Black Ops 2
Shooting The Walking Dead and administering justice is always fun, but doing it in your favorite shooter is even cooler. Buried is one of the top maps in Black Ops 2, part of the Vengeance DLC. This map was appreciated only after some time. Buried tells the story of the final zombie story line. Interestingly, this map turned out to be so good, compared to its predecessors. Let’s get to know Buried a little better and plunge into the atmosphere of western and madness.
And we will start with a hero named Leroy. He has a gigantic physique, but he is not very intelligent. If you give him drinks and candy, he will run around waving his arms, happily helping you in different ways. For example, running through doors, building all sorts of things for you. Leroy is a jack of all trades, despite his insanity and hyper-emotionality.
Are you afraid of ghosts? They flew in “Buried” too. Zombies alone were not enough for us! So you collect your thoughts and decide to make your way through a creepy mansion, where you are met by ghosts. Witch ghosts are flying straight at you (how creepy!). If you fail and let them fly too close to you, they will take all your earned cash (at least not your soul, and thank you for that). As soon as you kill all the nasty witch thieves, you will receive a free random perk. A good reward for a good scare, right?
And how do we kill all the evil spirits? Of course, with the help of cool weapons, which, by the way, were updated in Buried.
1. Paralyzer – the name speaks for itself. Its main purpose is to paralyze zombies. And you can even fly with it! To make zombies fly apart, you need to keep them under the influence of the stun gun for a long time. However, be vigilant, because although this weapon does not require ammo (which is already a big plus), it can overheat. The stun gun has a counter, and everything is simple: the more you use the weapon, the more numbers it shows. When the counter shows 0, this means that it has cooled down and is ready to kill evil spirits.
2. Another wonder weapon appears on this map – an improved Ray Gun Mark II, which significantly increases damage due to an insane multiplier for headshots.
3. Time bomb. Everything is simple here: you plant a bomb, and when it detonates, you are transported to the time when it was planted. That is, if you plant a bomb on the 2nd round, and it explodes on the 4th round, then you return to the 2nd round.
Buried has become a real fan favorite and has been added to every previous map in Black Ops 2.
Fan Reviews of Buried
Here’s what one fan says about this map on Reddit: “A perfect classic zombies map in. Plenty of ways to play and plenty of stuff to do. The setup is simple enough for any player to figure out on their own making it a very accessible map. It’s not difficult by any means, but not every map has to be hard to be enjoyable. Overall an excellent map to just pick up and play.”
Many people have warm feelings about Buried, calling it their favorite and classic map. However, some call it boring due to the brown color scheme and rather simple. What do you think?
Origins: use your brain and kill zombies
This map is amazing because it is the only one of its kind, where the action takes place during the First World War. Origins became a new story in the zombie story line. Our favorite 4 characters: Tank Dempsey, Takeo Masaki, Edward Richtofen, and Nikolai Belinsky – return, but this time they are much younger, considering that the events in Origins take place during the First World War. Four allies gathered together, like in the good old days.
Origins is miles ahead of any Black Ops 2 map. No other map had a stronger combination of story and gameplay. Fighting the undead in the trenches of World War I is cool and terrifying at the same time. There are many obstacles in your way. Rain and snow hinder you, you can hear the heavy footsteps of giant robots on autopilot, destroying everything in their path. There are fiery debris and corpses all around. All this combined with a cold, gloomy tone creates a truly stunning atmosphere.
The layout consists of a central hill surrounded by 6 energy generators that are charged individually for each relevant area. Every few rounds, zombie knights will attack you and will try to destroy your progress. This map is very detailed and full of content. However, Origins is quite heavy and routine and requires you to be on your feet all the time. You get new stuff: wind, ice, fire, and lightning, with which you can destroy zombie invasions.
Speaking of The Walking Dead. New zombies appear on the Origins map:
1. Panzer Soldier – this is an armored zombie that is quite difficult to destroy unless you shoot him in the head. Has a weakness in beaming weapons?
2. Templar Zombie. This type of zombie is notable for having blue eyes and appears during generator activation and in dungeons.
3. Giant robots. Beware, they can trample you if you get in their way! But don’t be afraid, because you can even get inside the robots if you shoot at their spotlight on the foot.
Reviews of Origins by players on Reddit
The community on Reddit is a whole universe of fans of both old and new games. A player on Reddit asked the question: “How did Origins influence you?” Here is one of the answers: “Was probably my favorite BO2 map despite Buried being the map I usually always played, for the memories alone. I and some mates would try and grind the Easter egg every weekend for a few months, we kept failing so often that we jumped back to BO1 and practiced on the Call of the Dead Easter egg as if that was any easier. I barely talk to those guys now but those are some of my happiest memories of that time”.
Many players speak about the Origins map with notes of warm nostalgia for the glorious past. Of course, there are enough haters, but Origins is not $100 for everyone to like.
